A Weekend in July
This Weekend was enjoyed by a small group of Options members.
Friday 13th July
Canary Wharf- The London Symphony Orchestra.
A warm summers evening, a clear sky, and listening to the 95 musicians of the LSO playing music from the big Hollywood Classics. A most delightful experience. There was music from such films as Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Out of Africa and the James Bond theme, to name but a few. The concert, which was free lasted about two and a half hours and. . . . . Where Were You?
Saturday 14th July
St. Andrew's Church Hornchurch. (Well done Pam.)
For something entirely different- The Havering Singers in which one of our Options members sings, presented their Summer Concert with conductor Keith Motson. A selection of singing and organ solos made up an interesting programme, finishing with Captain Noah and his Floating Zoo where the animals went in two by two by two by two and its going to rain, rain, rain.
Well it did.
Sunday 15th July
We were woken to a thunder storm at 6.30am and this the day for our walk in Constable Country. By the time we were ready for the off, after a few hic-cups, it was very warm and sunny. Starting at Dedham on to Flatford Mill and then East Bergholt. A delicious lunch was eaten at the Kings Head Public House. We eventually returned to Dedham by late afternoon. Some of the group then made their way home, the remaining now a much smaller number headed for Manningtree where we were treated to seeing a large number of swans being fed by a lady from the "Swan Watch", first handfuls of bread, then even larger quantities of grain. There are between 100 and 200 swans there, that are fed and given fresh drinking water every day. Four times a day in winter.
THAT WAS A WEEKEND THAT WAS!!! Just a few more should have been there . . . . . Stella.
