The Coach Trip to Dover

The Coach Trip To Dover.jpg

The OPTIONS Committee agreed that it would be possible to run two coach trips this year each being subsidized to the tune of about £400 from club funds. Stella organised the first to Dover Castle. We were all charged £8.50 including admission and even the tip for the driver. The coach picked us up at Upminster Station at 9.30am. We had a good trip to Dover Castle where the above photograph was taken as we left the coach. We split up into small groups and visited various parts of the castle. The escorted tour of the Secret Tunnels with the Hospital and Communications centre was organized for 3.30pm. Unfortunately the hospital equipment had been removed for restoration. To make up for this, some of the staff put on a bit of a "show". They even got us all singing pack up you troubles....... etc.

After the tunnel tour we all returned to the coach as planned. David our friendly coach driver then asked if we would like to spend some time at Dover Beach. So after a short ride we then took a short stroll, had a drink at the local pub or some went into the shopping outlet centre. This was a nice way to finish off what had been a great day out. Thanks to the weather that was fine, Stella for the organising and David the Chiltern Travel coach driver, it all resulted in a very successful day.
