Cajun Spiced Bread
Ingredients
- 300ml Water
- 30 ml Vegetable Oil
- 1 tbsp Tomato Puree
- 500g White Bread Flour
- 1½ tsp Paprika
- 1 tsp Cayenne Pepper
- 1 tsp Dried Oregano
- ½ tsp Ground Black Pepper
- 1 clove Garlic
- 1½ tsp Salt
- ½ tsp Sugar
- 1½ tsp Easy Bake Yeast
Glaze
- 1 Egg Yoke
- 1 tbsp Water
Method
I made this as a traditional loaf within the bread machine...
- Add all the ingredients into the machine
- Hit go!
Notes
Nothing to write home about. Maybe I'll add extra spices next time. The tomato puree gives the loaf a orangey glow.
Full Braid
- Use the dough setting.
- hen finished, place the dough on a floured surface, knock back, and divide into three.
- Roll the pieces in ropes.
- Braid the three ropes. Press the ends together, and tuck under.
- Cover with oiled film, and leave to prove in the warm for 30-45 minutes
- Preheat the oven to 200°C
- Mix the egg yoke and water to make the glaze, brush on top.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes.
