Indoor Sowing
sow thinly in pots or trays of seed compost and cover with a fine layer of compost. Firm gently and keep moist. Cover with glass or polythene and keep at 15-18 C. Germination takes 7-21 days.
Growing On
Remove cover when seedlings first appear. When 5cm tall, transplant into 10cm pots of compost. Keep at about 15° C.
For greenhouse crops, transplant into grow bags, or large pots in the greenhouse in May to June.
For outside crops, stand outside for a few days in late May (avoid frosts). Transplant to a sunny sheltered spot outside. Keep moist and weed free.
Maintenance
Apply a liquid feed every 2-3 weeks once flowers have formed.
